You just never know about people.
Shontae looked like a typical bully. She was a girl with a very deep voice, and was tall and sort of big-boned. I was very scared to talk to her.
One day she started to talk to me and I did not know what to say to her. So I started to go along with her. Then I realized she wasn't a bully like I thought she was; she was a very sweet person! That really made me think how I should be more open-minded about people, and that's when I thought about it: you really should not "judge a book by its cover."
Take this girl I knew. She had the best life ever! She had a dad, a mom, sisters, a grandpa, and a niece. Well one day on a Monday her and her mom and her Grandpa went to the hospital to get a check up on her Grandpa. No big deal. Just like every Monday. Well when they called her Grandpa next, her mom took her Grandpa and took him with the doctor. Her mom told her to stay in the waiting room.
So the girl did as her mom said and waited. An hour passed. Finally her mom came out and said that he had to say over night. So her mom called her older sister to come get her, which she did.
After those days her Grandpa was in the hospital. The girl was in school thinking about how he was. Every day after school her sisters would pick her up and take her to the hospital.
One weekend, the girl was asleep in her room. Her little niece Jalissa came in crying and woke her up.
"What's wrong?" the girl asked.
Then Jalissa said, "GRANDPA IS DEAD!"
Grandpa is dead. The worst words she ever heard. Her life passed by her.
It became really hard for her at school. Her mom and sisters asked if she wanted to go to school. And she'd always said yes. But the days of the funeral she didn't go to school. And if you want to know who that girl was, it was ME!
